About This Role

Hello prospective pickle! Design Pickle is looking for a Manager, Data Science and Analytics to join our team and help us develop new ways to inspire our customers and transform creative workflows for our global network of designers. You will help build and grow a team of data scientists, data engineers and analysts to deliver world-class products and drive informed business decisions for Design Pickle.

The ideal candidate will be technical leader and mentor with a proven track record of delivering business intelligence and analytics projects in ambiguous environments and under tight deadlines. You will also guide technical and product innovation in the areas of data visualization, exploratory and statistical analysis, and data engineering to uncover insights and solve real-world challenges. Given the aspirational vision, to be the most helpful creative platform in the world, and the nature of our products, this role requires grit, entrepreneurial drive and thinking, comfort with ambiguity, and ability to break down and solve complex problems.

Reports to: VP of Product

On a daily basis, works closely with: Executive Leadership, Engineering, Product Management, Product Design and Global Operations and Production.

Location: Design Pickle is a fully remote company with a Company Hub in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Specific to your role, we’re looking for individuals who have...

  • 2+ years of experience managing other team members, including team building, performance management and career development.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in business intelligence and analytics.
  • Experience with schema design and dimensional data modeling.
  • Experience in writing and optimizing SQL statements to handle large datasets.
  • Experience in ETL design, implementation and maintenance.
  • Experience in managing and quantifying improvement in multiple business areas resulting from business analytics and/or statistical analysis.
  • Experience in software development and full product lifecycle management.

Bonus Pickle Points:

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or related quantitative field.
  • Experience with applied statistics or experimentation (i.e., A/B testing) in an industry setting.
  • Experience with data warehouses and data lakes.
  • Experience with AWS services (e.g., S3, Redshift, ML) and Big Data analytics tools.
  • Proficiency with Ruby on Rails.
  • Excellent problem solving, project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience communicating and representing results of analysis to senior leadership to influence strategy.

Key Objectives and Responsibilities

  • Help build and lead a great data science and analytics team.
  • Conceptualize and own the data architecture for our suite of tools and analytics platform.
  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining and presentation of data to see beyond the numbers and understand how our customers and creatives engage with our products.
  • Optimize pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to streamline development of data artifacts.
  • Build and maintain reports, dashboards and metrics to monitor the performance of our products
  • Manage development of data resources, gather requirements, organize sources, and support launches while keeping the team focused on engineering and operational excellence.
  • Partner with Senior Leadership, Product, Engineering, and Global Operations teams to solve problems and identify trends and opportunities
